The Top 5 Things Runners In The United Kingdom Have That American Runners Are Missing Out On!

I picked up a couple of UK running magazines while waiting for a train in Liverpool this morning. The articles were super interesting: the usual mix of uplifting, motivational and informative, the writing was excellent and in general there’s not that much difference between American running magazines and UK ones…. until that is you get to the adverts, which, are kinda exciting for me, in a geeky way, that I’m not too proud of.

Here are the top 5 things I spotted in the UK Running Magazines that I’ve not seen in the US.

1. The Loch Ness (Monster) Marathon

How cool would it be to run around Loch Ness in the gorgeous Scottish countryside while keeping an eye out for Nessie! Also, please check out the logo – BEYOND GENIUS.

2. Swiggies!

The name is adorable and the idea is definitely something I would check out. I have something similar that sits in my hand but I would love to actually have my hands free (namely to take photos for #RunToInspire #PhotoARun)

3. The Ice Roller

This HAS to be in the US already, right? I’m sure I’ve just missed it in US magazines, because it’s too important for us no to have. Basically it’s a roller that you keep in the freezer to it simultaneously ices you AND rolls you out. I am kinda annoyed that I didn’t think of this idea as it’s SO obvious… but am super stoked to try one of these out.

4. T-Shirts That Light Up

Again, this has to be a ‘thing’ in the US, right?

It had me at pulsing electro-luminescent.

5. Speed Related T-Shirts

Its a tiny but elitist, but it’s possible that I’m jealous because I think I would only qualify for the white one as I’m super slow. Depending on how fast you are you’re able to get a different color tshirt. I will be super happy when I qualify for the blue one, anything else is beyond the limits of my imagination right now.
