Lets see how many people hit “unfollow”!

This is what’s been keeping me busy at work.

I’m actually quite excited for the year ahead working with this lady and more than a little worried that it’s going to interfere with my running schedule! I think a few people have missed that voice, and I can promise, if that’s you -this album will not disappoint. I had goosebumps upon goosebumps when I listened to ‘Love You Should’ve Come Over’ for the first time.

Here’s my cameo in the video, uhuh, that’s me at the desk in the middle trying to hide.

And one more when I totally get busted being in the shot:

I am curious to see how you’ll all react to me posting about this –  she’s got quite the polarizing effect. The press release just went live on USA Today, and the FIRST comment was some idiot mouthing off about something happening ten years ago. Not to mention the time I went rummaging through storage at work and found all the Dixie Chi cks hate mail. It’s very strange – to me she’s just a singer, with a talent, and voice who makes great music… but for others, she’s a real pin board for a lot of hate and disgust.

I’d like to believe that runners are bigger, better, more open minded people than the average USA Today reader, or those awful people who wished her dead. When we’re in races; when we run together, it doesn’t matter to me who you voted for, or what you believe in – at that moment, in a race, we’re just runners, and we’re all connected and are the same. If we could all remember that feeling of what it is to be in a pack like that in the rest of our lives, maybe we’d all get along better. After all, we’re all born to run.

So runners… lover her, or hate her?

And did you unfollow me?!

  1. I don’t know about her history and Dixie Chicks never really hit my radar so I can only judge her by the video you linked. I think she is a beautiful lady with a kick-ass voice. As for judging anyway – you should only ever judge a person by what they are now, not what they have been/could have been/should have been. And that only if you KNOW the person – public persona is often so fictitious and not even a near enough reflection of the real person under the tabloid BS. (Just had a quick look on the interweb what the fuss was about and frankly – any woman who criticizes Bush is a friend of mine – what the hell happened to freedom of speech and being entitled to your own opinion anyway?!).

  2. I’m Australian and I appreciated the Dixie Chick’s music, it got lots if air time here. Run on I say.

  3. Amy

I was such a big Dixie Chicks fan! (And I don’t appreciate 99% of country music). Regardless, anyone should be able to express opinions without getting death threats over it.

  4. I was not a Dixie Chicks fan but fully supported their stance ten years ago (geez – has it really been ten years?!?!). So excited for you – she has a beautiful voice and seems to be a wonderful person. Plus she’s a Howard Stern fan. Hahaha, I should see how many people hit “unfollow” when I announce I listen to him!

  5. The people who are writing the hateful comments about her and what happened ten years ago are probably the same people who want to secede from the union and make racist comments about Pres. Obama. There has been very little outrage over Hank Williams, Jr’s, Toby Keith’s, or Ted Nugent’s comments these days. Freedom of speech applies to everyone, not just those who have the same views as our own.

  6. I personally loved the Dixie Chicks when they were together and I’m so happy to see that Natalie is recording again. I am however highly jealous that you were in on this! You live an awesome life my friend!

  7. Fame at last eh!
I didn’t really listen to Dixie Chicks but remember the furore a few years ago – each to their own in my opinion. (Still following you!)
